The Two

"The Two" was created in the style of an opera. It centres on the romantic relationship between two women, one of whom is married to a man. The action takes place in an authoritarian society that does not tolerate such a relationship – represented by actresses and actors in the background who turn their backs on the protagonists. Ultimately, the women’s only recourse is to flee. The performers consist of the married woman, who tells the story from her perspective through song, and four female dancers. Using the techniques of expressive dance, the dancers portray both the other woman and the relationship between the two women.
